So you’re in the market for a new Ferrari or Bentley… probably not. I have for you a great alternative that is fast becoming a growing trend: Exotic and Luxury car clubs. I always thought that as soon as I get 200-300 thousand dollars sitting around, I’m going to skip the condo or house, and go directly to the nearest Lambo dealership. But after a little research, a car of that class can cost more than a house or condo to maintain. Factor in depreciation on these top of the line vehicles, and the reality doesn’t sound as good of a deal as you’d first thought. Side note: you can buy a DeLorean for under $30 thousand, if that’s your thing. Consider insurance, it’s going to be more than your average Corolla, and how often would you drive your Ferrari or Aston Martin anyway? Probably not to work everyday (which I assume you have to go to pay for one of these). Now that I think about it, if I had one, I would most likely live in and write from it. But that’s not for everyone. For everyone else, I recommend checking out exotic car clubs!

There are several business models for these car clubs, but first I will tell you some advantages that they offer. The club will keep the vehicles in mint condition and you will only have to pay for insurance when you’re driving, not when it’s in your garage. With Lambo or Ferrari, you’d have to spend a lot of time keeping it clean or taking it to the auto spa, the club will keep it detailed and spotless all the time. How about paying for damage? Car clubs will have that covered, at a price far less that insuring it for a year. Just imagine crashing an exotic car. My boss at Trendpimp once saw from his apartment a new Gallardo spin out and hit a car, trying to turn left on to a bridge. He saw the driver get out, and from 25 stories up, he could almost hear how choked he was when he got out and saw the damage. A majority of companies have 24hr roadside assistance and will either pick you up or drop off your car. Most will give you lessons on how to drive these beauties, if it’s the first time you’ve had you foot on the gas pedal of a 500+HP car, you might need to know where the break is too. And, yes, some clubs will even throw on fat rims on their rides so you don’t have too! Let’s move on to where you can do all this.

Hear are three top exotic car rental shops:

Imagine Rent a CarBrooklyn

Imagine Rent a Car follows a normal rent a car business plan, but doesn’t just have your normal vehicles. They have a selection of not just exotic sport cars, but also pimpin’ SUV’s and sedans. Listing off some examples: Escalades, Range Rovers, Bentley Sedans as well as big body Benz’s and Beemers. Based out of Brooklyn, they serve all of New York and some surrounding states; as a bonus, they will deliver right to your door.

Dream Car Rentals Las Vegas

This company is also a straight up rental shop but with a huge fleet of pimp cars to choose from set right on the Strip. They have everything from several Corvettes, Lambo’s, Ferrari’s, Porches, Vipers, or Mercedes coupes, with Hummers and Escalades to top it off. What’s really sweet about these guys is they also have some classic American muscle to test drive, like the AC Shelby Cobra, ’68 Camero SS, ’68 Pontiac GTO, ’59 Caddy Convertible, a few Harleys or custom choppers. You can drive these Dream Car rentals anywhere in America, as long as you take them back to Vegas, eventually…

Auto Boutique South Beach

Auto Boutique has a fleet of about 80 cars from the usual Ferrari’s, Lambo’s, Vipers, Corvettes and the Bentley coupe. Keeping in stock a huge amount of BMW/Benz sedans and killer SUV s, they feature Rovers, the X5, G wagon, Navigator, Hummers, and even a Cayenne Turbo. Located right near the airport, 10 minutes from South Beach, which means you’re that close to rolling on one of the most impressive strips in the world.

America’s top two premier exotic car clubs:

Curvy Road New York, Beverly Hills and Illinois.

Curvy road is a more than a club- a portion of your contribution actually pays into a fractional ownership of their fleet. You buy in at different levels and that guarantees a set amount or time with the rides of your choice, for 3 days to a week. With new Ferraris, Lambo’s, Porches, Bentley and even the Rolls Royce Phantom, Curvy Road offers tutorials on all their rides, which we recommend if you don’t speak European.

Club SportivaSan Fran, San Jose, Las Vegas, New York and Munich, Germany.

Club Sportiva, my favorite, is a true car club. This company has a fleet worth about 8 million and ranges from new exotics to classics. It has the usual Lambo’s. Ferrari’s, as well as Lotus. On the classier side, this club sports such originals Jaguar E type, and a Bentley Turbo. They offer driving lessons for all of there fleet.. As a member, you get 10 to 45 days a year with cars of your choice, which you will have to book ahead. Your option of vehicles will be based on what price level you’re looking at, from $3K to $13K memberships per year. Their main office is in San Fran, with locations opening in New York and Vegas in ’07. As a member, you can take advantage of any location. What sets club Sportiva apart is the actually club aspect. They have a exclusive club house where they will store your vehicle while you’re ripping in one of theirs, and Many events are hosted in the clubhouse from model shows, scotch and cigar nights to parties and dinners, which pretty much means they give networking classes as well as driving classes. They also organize events like test driving a $1,000,000 F1 racer on the Vegas Motor Speedway or getting a group to tour the amazing roadways and mountainsides of Germany and Switzerland in the classiest of European automobiles. All in all, Club Sportiva is probably the best club of any kind, period.

Hit up any of the company’s listed above and see that there are affordable ways to drive the best cars in the world. When you get the option of driving a Ferrari this week, a Lambo the next, you’ll be hooked.
