From the deep dark corners of Sweden resides a Hip Hop group that might as well be one of the best musical talents in the game today. As I’ve stated before, I really detest the current mainstream Rap industry, and think it just plain sucks. So I’m here to showcase you a musical breath of fresh air with the Looptroop Rockers!

High School friends Embee and MC Promoe (Marcie Cee) shared a newfound love for the emerging Hip Hop scene during an era ruled by punk rock and Pop music. Recording their first song in only the 8th grade, the duo quickly teaming up with two more MC’s from their hometown of Vasteras, Sweden. Shortly after, the group started spitting rhymes and putting down track after track at an unstoppable rate. Years later, another lyrical force joined the team, MC Supreme. Supreme started as a punk rocker in a hardcore band until Promoe invited him to record a track at the Wax Cabinet. After getting his foot in the door, it wasn't long before Supreme started spitting tracks of his own.

It has been 14 years after Embee and Promoe made their first recording. They are now 3 albums deep as well as having an onslaught of underground mixtapes. Promoe alone has released 3 solo albums which have never left the hard drive of my MP3 player. The group's extensive touring and over the top live performances have become well known in the underground scene. Promoe's track record combined with the group averages about 120 live shows per year over the last 3 years alone! From Tokyo and Sydney, to New York and St. Petersburg, his new album White Man’s Burden connects continents. With Germany’s Nosliw plus Saïan Supa Crew’s Leeroy, Promoe brings Europe’s hottest reggae and hip hop acts lined up. His love for reggae has led him to feature some of the greats from Jamaica like Daville, Assassin and Capleton.

Promoes musical influences range from the greats, like Bob Marley and KRS One, which shows in his lyrics. You won’t find him rapping about his new Benz or any bling on his wrist. A rasta rapper in the making,Promoe is a vegan who as quote has, “more hair and beard than you’re bargaining for”. His lyrics are positive and provocative while keeping me aware of the social issues not normally discussed in mainstream media. If you like KRS One or Immortal Technique, then Promoe and the Looptroop Rockers are right up your alley. We have half a dozen more music videos in our collection so use our search to find them out!
