Bone Thugs-N-HarmonyApril 27th, 2007
From B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e to Bone Thugs, the all-star rap group is back with Strength and Loyalty.
Grammy Award winning American gangsta rap group, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, returns with their sharp rapping style and harmonizing beats. It's hard not to fall for the rich musicality of the group's mile-a-minute flow. The not-so-small Cleveland, Ohio group is one of the top-selling hiphop groups of all time, with thirty-five million albums sold worldwide. They also have won numerous awards, including a 1997 Grammy in the category of Best Rap Performance for "Tha Crossroads".
Formed in the early 1990s, Eazy-E discovered the group originally known as "B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e". The four original members, Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Wish Bone, and Bizzy Bone, set off to record their first album, Faces of Death, under this name in early 1991. Soon after, Flesh-n-Bone, Layzie Bone's brother, was added to the group.Needless to say, the re-formed hustlers have game. Their career did a little more than take off during the mid 1990s after heading to Los Angeles on a Greyhound bus in search of N.W.A leading member Eazy-E. Exhausting their resources, the group auditioned over the phone with E in hopes of securing a record deal, but Eazy-E's promise to call them back went unfulfilled. Discovering that Eazy-E was performing in Cleveland, the groups auditioned in person, and were promptly signed to a contract with Eazy-E's Ruthless Records. Strength and Loyalty Bone Thugs' new album, Strength and Loyalty, coming May 8th, 2007 has not been produced without its handicaps. The thugs lost Bizzy Bone to inner conflicts while Flesh-n-Bone is still on his 10-year sentence for armed assault. Being gangsta hurts “when keepin’ it real goes wrong”. Strength and Loyalty’s producers include Akon, Jermaine Dupri with guest appearances from The Game, Mariah Carey, Legilimens, Twista, and Chris Leeper. Set to release, the group has sifted through nearly one hundred recorded tracks to narrow it down to fourteen solid hits:
While the old flavor hasn't dried, it hasn't managed to evolve, which may be the way we like it. The question is, can the pioneers of fast-rap preserve their old school qualities when meshed with the new stylings of Akon, Will.I.Am. and other modern luminaries? Bone Thugs - Tha Crossroads
