At the time of writing this, it’s already been 6 weeks since the New Year has hit, and that makes it a perfect time to check up on the progress you've made since setting your original goal. Are you on track, or have you swayed a little? It’s okay if you’re a little off-track; it really doesn't take much to rekindle the fire, so here are a few quick tips you can use to get back into the groove:

  1. Get a workout buddy. If you have someone that you can enjoy a quick workout or run with, it gives you someone to talk to - especially since they will know exactly what you're going through because they're going through it too.

  2. Write down your goals. This is critical! If you simply just talk about your goals, it’s way too easy to forget what they were in the first place. By writing them down, they become cemented into your subconscious and can be a constant reminder of what you want.

  3. Review your goals. Reviewing the goals that you've already written down can give you focus and help you remember the vision of what you really want, making it much easier to make your goals become your reality. Reviewing your goals daily can also make a huge difference.

  4. Commit to a schedule. Once you've written down your goals, the next step is to simply find the time to take the steps necessary to turn them into a reality. Simply put, if you schedule time to work out, chances are it's going to happen.

  5. Have someone you can talk about your goals with and be accountable to in case you slip up. This one is my favorite! I had a friend who would do a "goal checkup" call every week and we'd have a little game to go along with it. We'd keep a little scoreboard of who stuck to their goals of what they said they would do for the week and if you didn't do something, you had to put a couple dollars in towards a dinner or a night out. This was a really good way to keep us on track, because it's embarrassing to be the one who has to pay for the meal at the end of the month.

No matter what strategies you use to keep your resolutions going strong, it's always about the decisions you make on a daily basis, whether it's to get up and go for a run or to choose a carrot over a cookie as a snack. Remember, every decision you make adds up when it comes to your health.
